( 7.30 )每日一句:Bring the house down.
2006-07-30
Bring the house down.
Bring the house down
eg: The chairman delivered a speech about resource allocation in the luncheon meeting and the speech brought the house down.
allocation

eg:The appearance of the Queen Elisabeth II raised the roof.

A Mistake
An American, a Scot and a Canadian were killed in a car accident. They arrived at the gates of heaven,
where a flustered St.Peter explained that there had been a mistake.
"Give me $500 each," he said,"and I'll return you to earth as if the whole thing never happened."
"Done!" said the American.Instantly, he found himself standing unhurt near the scene.
"Where are the others?" asked a medic.
"Last I knew," said the American,"the Scot was haggling price, and the Canadian was arguing that his government should pay."

( 7.29 )每日一句:a word in season.
2006-07-29
a word in season
eg:A word in season makes everybody happy.

2006-07-28
a clotheshorse
Princess Dian was a real clotheshorse. It's hard to imagine how much she had spent on clothes.
Jack was from a poor family. But after he got a job in a big company, he gradually became a clotheshorse.

I wouldn’t count on it.
2006-07-27
I wouldn't count on it.
I wouldn't count on it happening.
I wouldn’t count on it。
eg: I wouldn't count on him being on time.

THE LION KING”,
